Water chemistry
Dichlor
Dichlor is a fast-dissolving granular chlorine that also adds cyanuric acid to the water with each dose.
Dichlor dissolves quickly, so owners often use it to start up a pool or to shock a small amount of water. Each dose adds both chlorine and cyanuric acid.
That stabilizer does not leave the water on its own. Repeated use can push levels high, which makes chlorine slow to work. CDC notes that pools using stabilized chlorine such as dichlor need a higher chlorine minimum (it gives 2 ppm for splash pads that use cyanuric acid). If your stabilizer keeps climbing, switch to liquid chlorine and consider a partial drain and refill.
