How does a salt water pool work?

A salt chlorine generator uses dissolved salt in the pool water to produce chlorine as water passes through the system. Chlorine is still the sanitizer. The system makes it for you instead of you adding it by hand. It runs as part of your circulation equipment. The system makes chlorine from the salt as water flows through. It still needs a working pump, a clean filter and a balanced pool to work well.

Does a salt water pool need less maintenance?

Not none. Salt water does not mean a pool is maintenance-free. You still need balanced water, a clean filter and regular equipment checks. Salt levels, water chemistry, circulation and the cell all affect how well the generator runs. Weekly service keeps all of that in range. Marina can help you keep those basics in order through weekly service. Salt levels are part of the water balance list.

What does salt system installation involve?

Marina first reviews your pump, filter, plumbing, controls and other equipment to see how a salt system fits. We then install the salt chlorine generator and connect it to the circulation system. Finally we configure and test it to confirm water is moving and the generator works. Marina checks that the generator is compatible with your equipment before installation. That planning helps the system work well from day one.

What does salt system service cover?

For an existing system, Marina inspects the generator, connections and controls, cleans the cell, and troubleshoots errors or low chlorine output. We also check the surrounding equipment and settings, since the cause is sometimes elsewhere. Call (817) 896-1120 to ask for a free estimate. Salt cells collect deposits over time, so cleaning is a normal part of service. The surrounding equipment and settings get checked too, since the cause is sometimes outside the generator.

Can my existing pool be converted to salt water?

Usually yes. Marina evaluates your existing pump, filter, plumbing and controls, then installs a salt chlorine generator that fits the system. Call for a free estimate. Marina checks the pump, filter and plumbing first and explains what a conversion involves.

Do salt water pools still need chemicals?

Yes. A salt system makes chlorine, but you still need to test and balance pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness and conditioner. Marina's weekly service includes salt levels where applicable. Salt systems reduce hand-feeding chlorine but do not remove the need to monitor water chemistry.

Why is my salt system not making chlorine?

Possible causes include low salt, a scaled-up cell, poor water flow, or settings. A pro can test salt and check the cell and flow. Marina troubleshoots salt systems. Marina also checks the surrounding equipment, since flow problems can affect the generator.

Do you service Hayward salt systems?

Marina services and installs Hayward, Pentair, Jandy and Raypak equipment. Call (817) 896-1120 with your system's make and what it is doing. Marina services Hayward, Pentair, Jandy and Raypak equipment, plus other residential systems. Call with the make and what it is doing, and Marina will advise.
