Pool barrier

A pool barrier is a fence or wall meant to keep children away from the water.

CDC advises a four-sided fence that is at least four feet high and fully encloses the pool, separating it from the house. CDC reports that this four-sided isolation fence cuts a child's drowning risk by 83% compared with fencing only the property line.

Use self-closing, self-latching gates and keep them in working order. Check local code for your city's exact rules. Barriers work best with close adult supervision and other layers such as alarms.
