RAIL license

A RAIL license is the Texas Residential Appliance Installer License, which allows limited electrical work on residential appliances, including pool equipment.

TDLR states that a Residential Appliance Installer may do electrical work limited to residential appliance installation, including pools. Its guidance says a RAIL holder may install items such as salt systems, time clocks, and similar automation to an existing pool when the job needs no higher amperage or main panel work.

Bigger electrical jobs fall to other license types. Ask your installer which license covers your job, and check TDLR's license search.
