Post-storm algae
Post-storm algae is an algae bloom that follows rain, when chlorine is diluted and nutrients are added.
Rain lowers sanitizer levels and adds phosphates, nitrogen, and organic matter. Warm Texas water speeds up the bloom. The pool can go from clear to green within a few days.
Act fast after a big storm. Test the water, clean baskets, run the pump longer, and bring chlorine back to the right level. Brush the walls. If the water has already turned green, see green pool cleanup or ask about algae treatment.
