Pink slime
Pink slime is a pink bacteria film often found in shaded spots, fittings, and low-flow areas.
Pink slime is not true algae. It is a bacteria that forms a slimy pink or orange film on skimmers, steps, return fittings, and toys. It often shows up when chlorine is low or the water does not move enough.
Wipe it off with a brush, then raise free chlorine with a shock and clean the filter. Also soak toys and cleaning gear in a chlorine solution. Check that circulation reaches every part of the pool. If it returns, the pool needs a better sanitizer routine or a closer look at the equipment.
