IPSSA is the Independent Pool and Spa Service Association, a trade group for pool service pros.

Trade group ties are useful, but they are not a license. Ask any provider for proof of insurance and keep the paperwork on file. Also ask what the policy covers and who it protects. Keep a copy of the certificate in your files for reference. Ask your provider to explain in plain words what its coverage includes and who it protects.
