Gunite

Gunite is concrete sprayed dry through a hose with water added at the nozzle, used to build many pool shells.

Gunite lets builders shape pools in almost any form. The shell is sprayed over steel rebar, then finished with plaster, pebble, or tile.

As the shell ages, it can crack from soil movement, which is a concern on North Texas clay. Hairline cracks are common and often cosmetic. A wide or growing crack, or a pool that loses water, calls for a pro. Gunite and shotcrete are close cousins that differ in how water joins the mix.
