DE filter
A DE filter uses diatomaceous earth powder to catch very fine particles.
A DE filter has the finest filtration of the three types. Powder coats grids inside the tank and traps tiny particles. Water comes out very clear.
It takes more care. After each backwash, you must add fresh powder through the skimmer. The powder dust is a breathing hazard, so wear a mask and follow the label. Check grids for tears, which let powder blow back into the pool. A pro can inspect the grids and repair the tank. See backwash for how cleaning works.
