Air relief valve
The air relief valve is a small valve on top of the filter that releases trapped air.
Air collects at the top of the filter tank. The air relief valve lets it out. This protects the filter from high pressure and keeps flow smooth.
Open it slowly when you start the pump. Stand to the side, because a tank full of air can spit water. Close it as soon as water flows out. A valve that spits air all the time often means an air leak upstream. A valve that leaks water needs a new seal or replacement. Check the gauge as well.
