Variable-speed pump

A variable-speed pump runs at adjustable speeds and uses much less power at low speeds.

A variable-speed pump lets you set slow, steady flow for daily filtering and higher speeds for vacuuming or heating. Because pump power drops fast at lower speeds, it can cut electricity use a lot compared with a single-speed pump.

It also runs quieter. Many models work with automation systems and can run on a schedule. Your pool needs enough flow for the filter, heater, and salt cell to work, so setting speeds is not just a matter of picking the lowest. Ask a pro to set it up.
