Spillway

A spillway is a spot where water flows over an edge, such as from a spa into a pool.

A spillway sends water over a lip into the pool below. The sound and look are popular. Water runs through the same pump system as the rest of the pool.

Signs of trouble: an uneven sheet of water, splashing, or low flow. The lip may need leveling, or the pump may be too weak. Spillways also raise evaporation, since more water meets the air. Debris can clog the edge, so rinse it off from time to time.
