Mosquito breeding
Mosquito breeding happens in standing water, including neglected pools, where mosquitoes lay eggs.
A pool with no circulation and no sanitizer turns into a mosquito nursery in warm weather. Larvae need still, stagnant water.
Keep the pump running and chlorine in range. For an empty or unused pool, talk to your city about local rules, since standing water can draw code complaints. A green, stale pool needs cleaning right away. See green pool cleanup. Check the pool every week if you leave it unused, because a few days of neglect is enough for a start.
