Coping

Coping is the cap along the pool edge where the pool wall meets the deck.

Coping gives swimmers a safe edge to grab and sheds water away from the shell. It can be stone, concrete, brick, or pavers.

Signs of trouble: loose pieces, cracked stone, or a gap between coping and deck. The gap is sealed with a flexible joint sealant. If the sealant fails, water can slip under the deck and wash away soil. See Deck-O-Seal and joint sealing for how Marina Pool Services handles that joint.
