Water chemistry
Cloudy water
Cloudy water is hazy water caused by tiny particles, poor filtration, or unbalanced chemistry.
Cloudy water is a warning sign, not just a looks problem. If you cannot see the main drain, the pool may not be safe to swim in.
Common causes are low free chlorine, high pH or alkalinity, a dirty filter, or too few pump hours. Start with a water test. Then clean the filter, run the pump longer, and fix the chemistry. A clarifier or flocculant can help after that. If the water turns green, treat it as algae.
