Bonding
Bonding is wiring that ties the metal parts around a pool together so they stay at the same electrical potential.
Bonding links metal items such as ladders, rails, pump motors, and reinforcing steel. This lowers the chance of a small voltage difference that could shock a swimmer. It is separate from grounding, which gives fault current a safe path out.
You cannot judge bonding by eye. Loose or corroded bond wires are a hidden risk, and tingling when you touch metal near the pool is a warning sign. Stop using the pool and call a qualified electrician. Bonding work is electrical work, and this page gives no wiring steps.
