Texas weather
UV exposure
UV exposure is strong sunlight that breaks down chlorine quickly when the water has no stabilizer.
Ultraviolet light destroys free chlorine in the water. Stabilizer, also called cyanuric acid, shields chlorine from the sun so it lasts longer. Too much stabilizer, however, weakens chlorine's work.
In North Texas, strong sun means you cannot skip this balance. Test the stabilizer level and keep it in the range your test kit or the product label gives. If chlorine keeps vanishing, check for low stabilizer first. Shade from trees or a cover helps a little, but it does not replace stabilizer.
