# Pool Service and Repair Costs in DFW: What to Expect and What to Ask

Pool service cost in DFW depends on pool size, tree cover, equipment, and what each visit includes. Published figures vary widely: Angi's Dallas page reports a $229 average with a $120 to $339 range. Marina Pool Services does not publish prices. It gives free estimates for qualifying services.

## No single DFW price

Published figures differ by source because each source defines service, pool size, and chemicals in its own way.

## Quotes need a task list

A fair quote names the visit tasks, the chemical terms, and what counts as extra.

## Marina quotes each job

Marina does not publish prices. It gives free estimates for qualifying services, and same-day estimates when scheduling allows.

## Third-party figures are dated

Every number on this page names its source and date. None of them is a Marina price.

## How much does pool service cost in DFW?

There is no single DFW price, because published sources define “pool service” in different ways. Third-party figures run from under $100 to over $300 a month for routine care. Marina Pool Services does not publish prices. It quotes each job and gives free estimates for qualifying services.

This page does not tell you what Marina charges. It shows what published sources report, explains what moves a price, and gives you a way to judge any quote you get, from Marina or anyone else.

All third-party numbers below name their source and the date on the page. They were checked on October 21, 2026. Sources update their pages, so check the link for the current figure.

## What do third-party sources report?

Three public sources give a view of the market. They disagree, and that disagreement is useful to see.

Source

What it reports

Page date

Angi, Dallas pool maintenance

Average $229, normal range $120 to $339, low end $45, high end $750

Updated March 27, 2026

HomeGuide, national pool maintenance

$80 to $150 per month for weekly or bi-weekly cleaning; $960 to $1,800 per year

September 22, 2025

Thumbtack, Grapevine pool maintenance

About $86 per month for weekly service

No date shown on the page; checked October 21, 2026

These are the sources’ own figures. They are not Marina’s prices, and Marina’s quote for your pool may be higher or lower.

### Why do the numbers differ?

Each source counts different things. Angi’s Dallas page also lists routine cleaning at $90 to $170 per visit and says professional service ranges from $85 to $165 per week. That is a different measure from its $229 average, which shows how one publisher can give several figures for one topic. HomeGuide’s range is national. Thumbtack’s figure comes from its own platform.

Treat each number as a rough marker. None of them replaces a quote for your pool.

### What do the sources report for single jobs?

Job

Source and figure

First-time cleaning

HomeGuide: $150 to $350 (September 22, 2025)

One-time or specific cleaning

HomeGuide: $200 to $400

One-time deep clean

Angi Dallas: $280 to $580 per visit

Chemical balancing

Angi Dallas: $20 to $40 per visit

Equipment check

Angi Dallas: $80 to $170 per visit

Seasonal open or close

Angi Dallas: $230 to $480 per service

Green pool recovery

HomeGuide: $300 to $500 for the initial cleaning, then $100 to $150 per month

Winterizing (average)

Thumbtack Grapevine: about $95

Problem inspection (average)

Thumbtack Grapevine: about $75

Many North Texas pools stay open all winter, so open and close fees may not apply to you. Angi notes that some Dallas owners keep pools open year-round, and deep cleaning in spring and winter may take the place of closing.

## What changes the price of pool service?

Price follows the work. A bigger pool, more debris, and more equipment mean more time and more chemicals. These are the main factors.

Factor

How it moves the price

Pool size

Angi’s Dallas page groups annual maintenance by size: $950 to $1,400 for pools up to 10,000 gallons, $1,400 to $2,200 for 10,000 to 20,000, and $2,200 to $3,600 above that

Surface and material

Angi lists concrete at $1,400 to $2,200 per year, fiberglass at $950 to $1,400, and vinyl liner at $1,200 to $1,800

Trees and debris

More leaves and pollen mean more skimming, vacuuming, and filter cleaning

Salt or chlorine

Salt systems need cell care and salt checks; Angi notes salt pools need specialized care

Hard water

Angi estimates hard-water treatment can add $15 to $40 per month in Dallas

Spring pollen

Angi suggests budgeting $50 to $175 more for extra cleaning and filter maintenance

Equipment condition

Worn equipment causes more problems and more service calls

Visit frequency

Weekly costs more per month than biweekly; Angi notes ongoing contracts can lower the per-visit price

Starting condition

A green or neglected pool needs a cleanup before routine care starts

Local conditions play a part. Angi lists North Texas hard water, 100-degree summers, evaporation, and spring pollen as reasons Dallas pool owners see higher costs. Grapevine’s 2024 water report lists total hardness at 117 ppm, so [hard water](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/hard-water) and [scale](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/scale) are real issues here. See [North Texas pool care](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/guides/north-texas-pool-care) for how heat, pollen, and storms affect upkeep.

## What is usually included, and what costs extra?

Routine service usually covers a set list of tasks, and everything else costs extra. The exact line moves from company to company. That is why the quote has to name it.

Marina’s weekly service covers water balance, emptying baskets, backwashing filters as needed, and vacuuming and brushing as needed. See the [weekly pool service page](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/pool-service-grapevine-tx). The service page does not publish what is excluded or how chemicals are billed.

Across the industry, these items are commonly separate:

- Equipment repair and replacement
- Green pool or heavy algae cleanups (see [algae treatment](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/algae-treatment-grapevine-tx))
- Large chemical corrections or a [chemical surcharge](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/chemical-surcharge) when prices rise
- Filter deep cleaning
- Freeze protection and storm response
- Joint sealing and deck repair

A plan can also be [chemical only](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/chemical-only-service) or [full service](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/full-service-plan). A chemical-only plan costs less but covers less. Know which one you are buying. For more on how plans differ, read the [weekly pool service guide](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/guides/pool-service).

## What should a pool service quote list?

A good quote names the work, the schedule, the chemicals, and the extras. If it fits on a sticky note, it is missing something. Ask for these items in writing.

1. **Pool details.** Size, type (chlorine or salt), surface, and any spa or water features.
2. **Visit tasks.** Water testing, baskets, brushing, vacuuming, filter backwashing or cleaning.
3. **Visit frequency.** Weekly, biweekly, or other, and the usual day.
4. **Chemicals.** Which are included, which are billed, and any cap.
5. **Equipment checks.** Whether the technician reports problems and how.
6. **Extras and their rates.** Cleanups, repairs, and call-outs.
7. **Start date and term.** Month-to-month or a fixed term, and how to cancel.
8. **Insurance.** Proof of coverage. Marina is insured through [IPSSA](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/ipssa).
9. **Total price and billing.** Amount, due date, and what causes a change.

Marina’s site does not state a contract term, a guarantee, or whether it provides written service reports. Ask any company, Marina included, to put these in the quote.

## What does a repair cost?

Repair cost depends on the part, the brand, and the labor. Published ranges are wide for that reason. Marina quotes each repair after a diagnosis.

Item

Angi Dallas (updated September 1, 2026)

HomeGuide (September 22, 2025)

Average pool repair

$641 average, $258 to $1,025 normal range

$250 average repair

Pump

Replacement $725 to $1,350

Water pump or motor: repair $50 to $300, replacement $150 to $800

Heater

Repair $165 to $755

Repair $50 to $400; replacement $500 to $3,500 (a separate line: $1,600 to $5,200 with installation)

Filter

Replacement $1,550 to $2,070

New in-ground filter $385 to $1,600; cartridge replacement $30 to $90

Salt cell

Angi’s repair page does not list it; its maintenance page lists replacement at $230 to $780

Cells $200 to $1,400

Why do the same items show such different numbers? The two publishers do not say they count the same parts or labor. HomeGuide’s pump line covers the pump or motor, and its motor-only options are cheaper than a full pump. When you see a wide gap, ask what is in the number.

Equipment age matters too. See the [pool equipment lifespan guide](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/guides/pool-equipment-lifespan) and the [pool equipment repair guide](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/guides/pool-equipment-repair) for how to decide between repair and replacement. ENERGY STAR reports that certified in-ground pool pumps use 20% less energy than standard pumps and can save about $50 a year, which belongs in a replacement decision.

For specific parts, see [pump repair](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/our-services/pool-pump-repair), [filter repair](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/our-services/pool-filter-repair), and [heater repair](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/our-services/pool-heater-repair).

## How do you compare two quotes?

Put the quotes side by side and compare the work, not the total. Two quotes with the same price can cover very different jobs.

Question

Quote A

Quote B

Visit frequency

Tasks at each visit

Chemicals included?

What counts as an extra?

Cleanup if the pool turns green?

Repairs handled in-house?

Insurance shown?

Term and cancellation

Total price

Fill it in for each company. Then look for the biggest gaps. HomeGuide advises getting at least three detailed bids. Angi advises hiring a service with general liability and workers’ compensation insurance and notes that insurance typically adds $5 to $15 per visit to the cost of doing business.

Our [guide on hiring a pool company in Texas](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/guides/how-to-hire-a-pool-company-texas) covers red flags and more questions.

### Is the cheapest quote the best deal?

Not always. A very low price may mean a short visit, an unclear task list, or extras billed later. A very high price may include things you do not need. The best deal is the quote that matches your pool and states the terms clearly.

Check your own numbers too. Angi estimates DIY pool care in DFW at $55 to $110 per month for chemicals, testing supplies, and equipment, against $85 to $165 per week for professional service. DIY also costs time and takes know-how. A wrong chemical move can irritate skin or damage equipment.

## What other costs come with a pool?

Service is only part of the bill. HomeGuide puts total yearly pool upkeep at $3,000 to $6,000, including maintenance, minor repairs, electricity, and water.

Cost

HomeGuide figure (September 22, 2025)

Electricity

$800 to $1,200 per year

Chemicals

$175 to $750 per year

Water

$50 to $250 per year

Repairs

$400 to $1,000 or more per year

Opening and closing

$650 to $1,000 per year

Run time drives electricity. ENERGY STAR says running a pool filter 6 hours a day instead of 24 hours reduces energy use by 75%. A [pool timer](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/our-services/pool-timer-installation) or [automation](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/our-services/pool-automation) can set the schedule. A [variable-speed pump](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/variable-speed-pump) can cut power use further. See the [pool pump buyer’s guide](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/guides/pool-pump-buyers-guide).

Angi also suggests budgeting $200 to $800 per year in Dallas for extra parts and repairs because heat wears equipment. That is an Angi estimate and not a rule.

## How should I plan a yearly pool budget?

Plan for routine service, chemicals, power, and a repair reserve. Then add your own pool’s quirks, such as heavy trees or a heater you run often.

1. **Start with the service quote.** Get a written quote for weekly service from at least three companies, as HomeGuide advises.
2. **Add power.** Ask your electric provider for last summer’s bills, and ask a technician whether a timer or variable-speed pump could cut run time.
3. **Add a repair reserve.** Angi suggests $200 to $800 per year in Dallas for extra parts and repairs. HomeGuide lists repairs at $400 to $1,000 or more per year. Use these as rough markers, not promises.
4. **Add a cleanup reserve.** A hard storm or a neglected stretch can mean a one-time cleanup.
5. **Review each year.** Equipment ages, and your pool’s needs change.

A budget built this way shows where the money goes. It also helps you judge quotes. If one quote is far below your estimate, ask what is left out.

## What does Marina offer?

It gives free estimates for qualifying services and, when scheduling allows, same-day estimates for pool service, cleaning, and equipment repairs.

Marina does not publish prices, so there is nothing on its site to compare against the figures above. Call for a quote and use the checklist in this guide to judge it. For routine care, see [weekly pool service](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/pool-service-grapevine-tx). For equipment, see [pool equipment repair](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/our-services/pool-equipment-repair).

## Questions to ask before you hire

Take this list into every call.

1. What does each visit include? Can you send the list in writing?
2. Are chemicals included, capped, or billed on top?
3. What happens if my pool turns green?
4. Who repairs equipment, and how are repairs priced?
5. Do you charge a [diagnostic fee](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/diagnostic-fee) or a [service call](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/service-call) fee?
6. Is there a contract, and how do I cancel?
7. What insurance do you carry, and can I see proof?
8. How do I reach you between visits?

A company that answers all eight clearly is easier to trust. A company that dodges them is telling you something.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does weekly pool service cost in DFW?

Published sources disagree. Angi's Dallas page (updated March 27, 2026) reports a $229 average and a $120 to $339 range. HomeGuide (September 22, 2025) reports $80 to $150 per month nationally. Marina quotes each job, so call for a free estimate.

### Is $150 a month a fair price for pool service?

It can be, but only if you know what it covers. One company may include chemicals and a full task list. Another may charge for chemicals, extra visits, or cleanups. Compare the written task list and chemical terms, not the monthly number alone.

### Why do pool service quotes differ so much?

Quotes differ because the pools differ and the plans differ. Size, trees, salt or chlorine, equipment, and visit length all matter. Plans also differ in chemicals, repairs, and cleanups. Two quotes with the same number can cover very different work.

### How much is a one-time pool cleaning?

HomeGuide reports $200 to $400 for specific or one-time cleaning, and $150 to $350 for a first-time cleaning service (September 22, 2025). Angi's Dallas page lists a one-time deep clean at $280 to $580. Marina quotes each job individually.

### What does a pool pump replacement cost?

Angi's Dallas repair page (updated September 1, 2026) lists pump replacement at $725 to $1,350 locally. HomeGuide lists pump or motor replacement at $150 to $800. The ranges differ because they count different parts and labor. Ask for a quote that names the pump model.

### Does Marina give free estimates?

Yes, for qualifying services. Marina also says that when scheduling allows, it can give same-day estimates for pool service, cleaning, and equipment repairs. Call (817) 896-1120 or use the quote form at the contact page.
