# Water restrictions

Water restrictions are city limits on outdoor water use that can affect filling and draining a pool.

North Texas cities set watering stages during dry spells or supply limits. Rules cover lawns first, but some touch pool filling. Rules differ by city and change often.

Before you drain or refill a pool, check your city's current rules as of this month. Do not assume last year's rules still apply. Fixing leaks and keeping a pool covered or balanced lowers your need to refill. Call your city utility office with questions.
