# Trichlor

Trichlor is a slow-dissolving chlorine tablet that also adds cyanuric acid and lowers pH.

Trichlor tablets are easy to use. You put them in a feeder or floater and they dissolve over days. The trade-off is that every tablet also adds [cyanuric acid](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/cyanuric-acid), and that builds up over a season because it does not burn off.

Too much stabilizer weakens chlorine, so watch the level on each test. Trichlor is also acidic, so it pulls [pH](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/ph) and alkalinity down. Never drop tablets in a skimmer basket, and never mix them with other chlorine types. Use an [inline chlorinator](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/inline-chlorinator) or [floater](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/chlorine-floater), and follow the label.
