# Salt chlorine generator

A salt chlorine generator turns dissolved salt into chlorine inside the pool plumbing.

A salt system makes chlorine from salt in the water. You still have chlorine in the pool. It is made on site instead of poured in. Many owners like the steady level and the softer feel.

It needs the right [salt level](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/salt-level), good flow, and a healthy [cell](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/salt-cell). Salt can speed corrosion on some stone, metal, and equipment, so check the manufacturer's notes. Marina Pool Services installs salt water systems. Keep checking pH and stabilizer, since a salt pool still needs balance.
