# Pool technician

A pool technician is a trained person who services pools, tests the water, and repairs equipment.

Techs test water, add chemicals, clean, and spot problems. Some also repair pumps, filters, and heaters.

Electrical work and some installs follow state licensing rules. Ask about training, such as CPO certification, and about insurance. Ask who will visit your home and how they report their work. Good techs keep notes on your pool, so the next visit builds on the last. Ask who will visit your home, and how long they have worked on pools like yours.
