# Inline chlorinator

An inline chlorinator is a feeder in the plumbing that dissolves chlorine tablets.

An inline chlorinator holds tablets in a chamber after the filter. A dial sets how much water flows through, and that sets the dose.

It is easy to use but easy to overfeed. Too many tablets raise [stabilizer](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/cyanuric-acid) and lower [pH](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/ph) fast. Use only tablets labeled for it, and never mix chlorine types in the chamber. Turn off the pump before opening the lid, and let pressure out first. A [check valve](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/check-valve) helps stop chemicals flowing back into the heater.
