# Equipment upgrade

An equipment upgrade is replacing old equipment with a newer, more efficient model.

Upgrades often target the pump, heater, controls, and lights. A variable speed pump can cut energy use compared with an old single-speed pump. Newer controls add scheduling and remote use.
