# Clarifier

A clarifier is a product that clumps tiny particles so the filter can catch them.

Clarifier helps with water that looks hazy but tests fine. It binds fine particles into bigger clumps your filter can trap. It works best with a clean filter and a pump that runs enough hours.

Use it as a small boost, not a cure. If the haze comes from low chlorine, high [pH](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/ph), or a worn filter, fix those first. Too much clarifier can make water cloudier. After use, clean your [cartridge](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/cartridge-filter) or [backwash](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/backwash) the filter, since it will be full of trapped debris.
