# Chlorine floater

A chlorine floater is a floating plastic dispenser that holds chlorine tablets and releases them slowly into the pool.

A floater is a simple way to feed tablets. It floats and drifts around the pool, releasing chlorine slowly.

It has drawbacks. A floater can park near a wall and bleach the plaster or liner. It also puts strong chlorine close to swimmers and pets. It only feeds while it sits in water, so it may be gone when it rains. Use [trichlor](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/trichlor) tablets only as the label says, and watch [stabilizer](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/cyanuric-acid). An [inline chlorinator](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/inline-chlorinator) is a better fit for steady dosing.
