# Automatic pool cleaner

An automatic pool cleaner is a machine that cleans the floor and walls on its own.

An automatic cleaner saves brushing and vacuuming time. It moves around the pool, scrubs the floor, and picks up debris. There are three main types: [suction-side](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/suction-side-cleaner), [pressure-side](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/pressure-side-cleaner), and [robotic](https://marinapool.multisites.ai/glossary/robotic-cleaner).

It does not replace chemistry, skimming, or filter care. Tree-heavy yards may need extra bag or basket emptying. If a cleaner stalls, check hoses, wheels, and bags first. Remember it can only clean what the pump and filter can handle, so keep both in good shape. Check hoses, wheels, and bags every few weeks.
